Mission Statement
We are a diverse congregation and we seek to reach out to everyone around us regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. It is our strong desire as a community to grow into emotional and spiritual maturity and discernment. This growth and discernment is encouraged and supported through our corporate worship, education programs for both children and adults, and opportunities for outreach and service. Parish History The Church of the Mediator is the first Episcopal Church on the southwest side of Chicago . The parish was organized in 1878 and held it first worship services in a hayloft on the corner of 111 th Street and Hale Ave. The parish built it's first building in 1889 on land donated by the city of Morgan Park located at the corner of 110 th Street and Hoyne Ave. The original church was replaced with a new building in 1930 and the chapel, social hall, and church offices were added in 1956. With over one hundred and twenty-five years of worship and service in the neighborhood we have a long history of relationship with the people of Morgan Park. We invite you to come and visit with us and be a part of making history for the next generation. |
